The Government of India understands the urgency with which action towards gender equality must be initiated and is strongly focussed on making its mission of women-led development successful. Given that the COVID-19 pandemic has set us back by more than a century in terms of fulfilling Goal 5 of Sustainable Development, India's efforts to address issues that affect women and girls throughout their life stages are worth replicating in other parts of the world.
