Education, especially STEM education, has been one of key focus areas of the G20 EMPOWER Alliance. India’s G20 EMPOWER Presidency remains committed to taking forward empowerment of women through a solid foundation in education. A focused effort to increase and sustain women representation in STEM is significant since it paves the way for gender equality and respect for women’s rights and provides them economic security.
This G20 EMPOWER Working Group on STEM delves on a five-pillar approach – which is integrative and holistic – to increase and sustain women representation in STEM. These five-pillar are as below:
The Working Group believes that there is a need for realigning the ecosystem – in terms of qualifying, hiring and retaining women. This can be done by building allies and bringing together stakeholders from all sections of the society. An attempt has been made to align the solutions to the identified five pillars.
