Anissa Hassouna is a Former Member of the House of Representatives. She was also a writer and political researcher. She served as Chief Executive Officer of Al Nas Hospital and as former Executive Director of the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation. She was chosen by the international magazine ‘Arabian Peace’ among the 100 most powerful Arab women in 2014 in the field of society and culture, for her professionalism and humanitarianism. One of the most famous cancer fighters; she is a role model for all those who hold on to hope despite the pain that has not left their bodies. She encouraged women to have early oncological screening.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science at Cairo University. She has served as a diplomatic attaché at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Anissa served in the Council of Arab Economic Unity of the League of Arab States. She has held the position of Director General of Egypt’s International Economic Forum. She is also a Lecturer at the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Banking Institute of the Central Bank of Egypt. She is the first woman to be elected as Secretary General of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs.

She received the title of Presidential Fellow from the University of Champagne in California, USA in 2018, one of the high honorary positions granted by the university. Anissa Hassouna was chosen for this honor in recognition of her professional career, service to her community, and her pioneering role towards women's issues and the convergence of cultures and civilizations. Further, Anissa has held many positions, including Treasurer of the International IDEA’s Board of Advisers for West Asia and North Africa on Democratic Transition, Member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Egyptian Pugwash for Science & International Affairs.

As a member of many advisory bodies for thought, freedoms and women in Egypt, the Arab world and the world, she is the founder of "Women for Peace Across the World" in Switzerland, a member of the Advisory Board of the "Arab Thought" foundation in Beirut, a member of the Advisory Board of the "Alternatives Forum", a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the "Enlightened Egypt Foundation", a founding member of the "Think Tank for Arab Women", and a founding member of the Arab Forum for Citizenship in the Transition. She has been honored by Mrs. Intisar El-Sisi, wife of the President of the Republic, at the celebration of Egyptian Women's Day "Icon of Success" in 2022. She died in March 2022. Dr. Anissa Hassouna also won the Memorial Award on the Inspiring Arab Women's Day in 2022.
