Sarah is a prominent businesswoman and the first woman to chair the Saudi Arabian stock exchange, Tadawul. She is widely regarded as a trailblazer for women in business in Saudi Arabia and has been recognized for her contributions to the financial sector both in Saudi Arabia and internationally.
Sarah began her career in finance, working for a number of leading financial institutions in Saudi Arabia. She quickly established herself as a rising star in the financial sector, earning a reputation for her expertise in investment banking and corporate finance.
She began her career in asset management at Samba's investment business, where she worked her way up to Senior Portfolio Manager and co-managed local equities. She also worked for National Commercial Bank and she has held the position of Chief Investment Officer at Jadwa Investment, a reputable player in Saudi Arabia's capital market and an independent asset management boutique. She has served on the management committee and led the asset and wealth management divisions of its organization. Sarah has been appointed to the board of directors at Saudi Airlines as a representative of the private sector. In 2014, Sarah was appointed to the board of directors of Tadawul, the Saudi Arabian stock exchange. She quickly rose through the ranks, serving as the head of the exchange's risk committee and later as the vice chair of the board. Sarah made history when she was appointed as the chair of Tadawul, becoming the first woman to hold the position in the exchange's history. Her appointment was widely celebrated as a milestone for women in business in Saudi Arabia and was seen as a sign of the country's changing attitudes towards gender equality. In recognition of her contributions to the financial sector, Sarah has received numerous awards and honors. In 2017, she was named one of "50 people to watch" by Bloomberg Businessweek, as well as being named one of the 100 most powerful women in the world by Forbes magazine in both 2017 and 2018. In September 2022, she was appointed chair of Lazard’s financial advisory business for MENA. She has also been recognized for her philanthropic work, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare.
